DESCRIPTION SITE :

Stepping the mast on Ranger. Just after being launched, as she was under tow to Massachusetts, her mast fell apart. However, Vanderbilt was able to take her to the Herreshoff yard in Bristol to install a new/old mast.
The "new" mast and rigging came from Vanderbilt's previous yacht, Rainbow.
