5x7 safety negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons in 1934. Image of 126' Sparkman & Stephens designed, Herreshoff built J class sloop WEETAMOE (built 1930 in Bristol, R.I.) or 127.5' W. Starling Burgess designed, Herreshoff built J class sloop RAINBOW (built 1934 in Bristol, R.I.) crossing tacks with 126' Paine, Belknap & Skene designed, George Lawley & Son Corp. built J Class sloop YANKEE (built 1930 in Neponset, Mass.) at NYYC Cruise 1934. (There is a discrepancy between A CENTURY UNDER SAIL and neg. sleeve. Book says YANKEE and RAINBOW, neg. sleeve says YANKEE and WEETAMOE). Visible in image: port beam view of RAINBOW or WEETAMOE on starboard close-hauled tack crossing bow of YANKEE (J/2) on port close-hauled tack (seen from starboard beam), both vessels sail under marconi-rigged mainsails, staysails and jibs, heeled over, rails underwater, other vessels in background.
