EDITION : 1893

BATEAUX : VIGILANT VALKYRIE II

DATE : 13 Oct 1893 - 15:40

COURSE : 5

DESCRIPTION SITE :

The enormous billowing sails on yachts of this period, when driven before a following wind, suggest to me nothing less than great floating sculptures. Vigilant is show leading Valkyrie, and was the eventual winner. Vigilant was a centerboard sloop with all-metal (steel and bronze) construction. Valkyrie II had a steel frame, a wooden hull, and a pine deck
