The schooner yacht America, returning in triumph to America in 1851 after soundly defeating several British yachts in a race around the Isle of Wight. It is said that Queen Victoria, watching the race from her residence on the Isle of Wight, said to Prime Minister Gladstone standing next to her, “Isn't that the American boat?” Gladstone replied, “Yes Madam, it is.” She said then, “Well, who's second?” and Gladstone answered, "Sadly, Madam, there is no second.” 24" x 36" Stretched Giclée Print --- $250.00 .
