shadowbox presentation of the New York Yacht Club's America's Cup Defender of
1885, PURITAN, which was designed by Edward Burgess and built by George Lawley
for J. Malcom Forbes. This artistic ship's portrait is done in the traditional
style of late 19th century marine shadowbox paintings. It shows the yacht from a
port side view as she competes in the America's Cup trials in New York waters,
surrounded by other sail and steam craft, and has a polychrome hand-painted fair
weather sky & moderate sea. The model is authentically painted per research, and
constructed in semi-relief from solid wood, with assemblies and miscellaneous
deck fittings of metal or wood. Framed for wall mounting in a handsome wooden
molding, gilded and glazed. LICENCE : Autorisation en cours |
