ACCIDENTS TO CUP YACHTS; Reliance Breaks Her Spar and Columbia Her Topmast. Former Boat Wins a Fast Thirty-Mile Race - Old Defender Puritan Beaten by the Ingomar.

In the big schooner class, Morton F. Plant's Ingomar allowed the old cup defender Puritan 31 minutes and 45 seconds and defeated her on corrected time by 8 minutes and 41 seconds, winning the Bigelow Cup for schooners. For this cup all the schooners were reckoned as sailing in one class. In the class for smaller schooners, the Hope Leslie, the flagship of the Eastern Yacht Club, lost to the Rondina on corrected time, by 1 minute and 35 seconds.
