DESCRIPTION SITE :

The first race between the American yacht Vigilant and the English yacht Valkyrie for the America Cup, which was left undecided on Oct. 5, was sailed again on Saturday, Oct, 7.
The Valkyrie had on board the Earl of Dunraven, the Marquis of Ormonde, Lord Wxxxxxon; her designer, Mr. G. L.Watson; her sailmaker, Mr. Ratsey; and Captain Cranfield, the sailing-master, with a crew of thirty-six men.
