Provenance: Christie's, 16th April 1993, half lot 570, sold ú26,000 (hammer). This view of "Cambria" approaching the Needles under full sail and comfortably ahead of those other yachts astern of her presumably shows her in the Anglo-American Round-the-Island Race of 1868 (see previous lot). It is possible however that the work shows another race in that memorable season of 1868 in which she had several successes although the connection with the famous contest with "Sappho" is much more likely.
