Shamrock V wins in Thames yacht club regatta at Southend . Shamrock V formerly owned by Sir T Lipton , and now the property of Mr T Sopwith , won the Royal Thames yacht club race over a forty miles course in the Thames estuary at Southend . Candida , owned by Mr H A Andreae was second , and the King ' s Britannia third . Tacking to the wind on the Abreae during the race at Southend . 12 July 1932
