DESCRIPTION SITE :

Two seamen inspect the end of Enterprise's 66 1/2-foot Park Avenue boom.
The foot of the mainsail was attached to slides that moved along the transverse runners. Once the sail had been bent into the desired aerodynamic curve, pegs were inserted in holes in the runners to keep the slides in position.
