DESCRIPTION SITE :

As the boat tacks. four hands at the bow pull the foot of the huge quadrilateral jib so the sail's wildly ?apping clew. or lower aft corner, can clear the front of the mast as the sail passes over to the opposite side. Just behind the mast an afterguardsman turns a wheel to bend the boom away from the wind. thus giving the mainsail a more efficient shape.
