REF : 0 EDITION : 1937 DATE : 22 Dec 1936 COURSE : 0 DESCRIPTION SITE : Ranger's lead keel hangs from a hoist that will lower it into a construction cradle at the Bath Iron Works. Weighing some 110 tons, the keel gave Ranger the high ratio of ballast to displacement —about 70 per cent— that was a major reason for her remarkable stability.
