“Yachting At Its Best. Left: Westward, Shamrock and Britannia, fighting for the lead in the Royal Thames Yacht Club Regatta at Ryde. Right: The King joining in with the crew in hauling on the main sheet of Britannia during last Saturday’s race at Cowes, which provided the most exciting finish so far this season and resulted in a brilliant but narrow win for his Majesty’s yacht. Mr H.F. Paul’s Astra was leading a few miles from home, but Britannia graciously crept up and just managed to cross the finishing line twelve seconds ahead. Shamrock was third.”
