DESCRIPTION SITE :

Vigilant in Scott's Cartsburn Graving Dock, Greenock, June 1894. She is being prrepared to take on the British First Class cutters with the yardmen fairing the lead bulb and filling any imperfections. Her Tobin bronze underbody required no anti-fouling paint.

Vigilant arrived from the US for the 1894 season and Valkyrie II returned from New York at about the same time. Vigilant was dry docked and her racing spars were stepped … in time for her UK debut at the Mudhook YC Regatta, held at Hunter’s Quay on the Clyde on July 5th.
