This is an unusual photograph of the King’s yacht ‘Britannia’ (black hull on the left) competing against American J-Class yacht ‘Yankee’ and other famous yachts during races organised by the Royal Thames Yacht Club, which were held off of Ryde in 1935 - you can see the pier in the background.
