RAINBOW, NEWEST YACHT, OUTSAILED
Yankee has luck of the sea.
Endeavour Being Girded for ocean crossing.
Special dispatch to The Star.
NEWPORT, R. 1. July 11 - Taking the luck of the sea with its rail down in a fine breeze and dancing water, Yankee came through a 28 1/2-mile race yesterday 5 minutes and 27 seconds ahead of the new Rainbow.
Yankee had the advantage of two breeze shifts on the windward leg of a triangle. They enabled heer to pass the Rainbow and leave her somewhere out in a patch of liquid salt. Then on a combination run and reach, she outsailed the most modern of the America Cup creations, and again, on a close-haul stretch turn she demonstrated that it was not only by luck that she could master.

PORTSMOUTH, England, July 11.- Endeavour, T.O.M. Sopwith's new America's Cup challenger, has returned to the yards of Gosport, where the yacht was built, to be prepared for her voyage across the Atlantic to Newport, scene of the September challenge.
The challenger's towering mast, which carries her racing canvas, will be unstepped and she will be jury-rigged for the arduous sail across the ocean, which she must make under her own canvas. A steam yacht will convoy her.
The first race against the american defender, not yet selected, will be sailed off Newport September 15 and others will follow on each day succeeding week day until one boat was won four times.
