ADAMS SEND YANKEE TO ANOTHER VICTORY
Former Navy Secretary defeats Vanderbilt's Rainbow in America's Cup Trials.
By Associated Press.
ABOARD THE U. S. COAST GUARD CUTTER ARGO, OFF NEWPORT, R. I., July 14.—Yankee, Boston Contender in the America's Cup trials, added another victory to her record
today by defeating Rainbow, Harold S. Vanderbilt's entry, by 4 minutes flat in today's 22 1/2-mile match race.
Yankee, Charles Francis Adams' entry, has not been defeated by any of the contenders, with the exception of Rainbow, which was granted a decision over the Boston boat in a protested race on June 24.
At that time, Rainbow came into collision with the stern of the Yankee at the start, but was awarded a victory despite the fact Yankee outsailed her on the ruling that calls for a clear start. NOTES AMERICA-SCOOP : LICENCE : Autorisation en cours |
