DESCRIPTION SITE :

In Enterprise, victor over Shamrock V, Vanderbilt had the pure racing machine. Here is her stripped-out interior looking forward toward the mast, which was held together by 80,000 rivets and built of a high-tech aluminum alloy called duralumin. Many of her sailors worked down here on winches originally used in Reliance.
Later, the rules were changed to require accommodations for professional crew.
