Document No 7560: Shamrock V in 1933 | |||||||||||||||
REF : 0 EDITION : 1930 DATE : 1933 COURSE : 0 DESCRIPTION SITE : Shamrock V in 1933. Her rig had been lightened and altered since the Cup challenge of 1930 and a stump bowsprit with an unsightly bobstay and martingale to spread it has been added. She was then owned by Thomas Sopwith and the hull was painted white instead of the 'Shamrock green' of Sir Thomas Lipton's time. She is going well to windward over the foul Solent tide with another of the class to windward. The dinghy is carried amidships, inverted aver the saloon skylights. The mast section has been reduced but the boom appears as heavy as ever. The set of the seams of the mainsail is interesting, showing the sail shape on the wind, and the lower pocket has a much shorter batten than it provides for. LICENCE : Autorisation en cours |
