REF : 0 EDITION : 1920 DATE : 1908 COURSE : 0 DESCRIPTION SITE : Captain Edward Sycamore at the wheel of Sir Thomas Lipton's 23 Metre cutter Shamrock, racing on the Clyde in 1908. The owner sits immediatly before it with his amateur 'representative', Colonel Duncan Neill. The hands wear the white canvas sun hats and racing suits of the time. In the right foreground, Herbert Springett of Rowhedge and the second mate stand by a sheet. The cutter close astern is probably the similar White Heather, sailed by Charles Bevis with a predominantly Solent crew. She was Shamrock's closest rival in several seasons of brilliant racing.
