Oil/canvas, 96 x 151 cm, lo. ri. sign. W. Hamacher, on the stretcher two labels of Große Berliner Kunstausstellung 1895 with inscription 'Segelregatta Corves 94', label of Kunstverein Bremen. - In the background is the 'Hohenzollern', the Emperor's steam yacht. The defeat of his 'Meteor I' by the 'Britannia' in this race was the reason for Wilhelm II to commission the construction of the 'Meteor II'. - Exhibition: Große Berliner Kunstausstellung 1895, cat. no. 662; Kunstverein Bremen. - Provenance: Private collection Lower Saxony. - German marine and landscape painter. After attending the Wroclaw art school H. was master student of E. Dücker at the Düsseldorf academy 1889-90. After travelling Paris and Italy he became master student of H. Gude in Berlin.
