Beaucoup d'images des tests organisés par le chantier le 14 mai 1851, entre America, encore en primaire blanc, et Maria, le sloop rapide du Commodore Stevens, qui, dans les eaux calmes de Sandy Hook, distança facilement la nouvelle goélette.
A noter une superbe lithographie de Maria gréé en goélette, signée C. Parsons et publiée par Currier & Ives, c1861.
