8x10 in. glass negative photographed by James Burton ca. 1900. Image of the 108' schooner, AMERICA (DS: Steers; BU: Brown, 1851), undersail, starboard bow view on a very mild port tack. The schooner yacht AMERICA was the 100 Guinea Cup winner in the race around the Isle of Wight, England, in 1851 which is considered to be the 1st America's Cup race ever held.
