Herreshoff; BU: Lawley, 1930). Image of the cockpit area on board with L. Francis Herreshoff, the designer, and Captain Muir, with two other workmen, examining something in the cockpit area. Typed neg. sleeve info.: "39160-F / 5/7/30 / Whirlwind launching / Nathaniel[sic] Herreshoff & Capt Muir / in cockpit of Whirlwind." Handwritten: "Box 2789". Handwritten lower right notation of possible print sent to, "Y" (Yachting). The person noted by the neg. sleeve as "Nathaniel" cannot be as he is a much younger man and Nat Herreshoff in 1930 would have been 82 years old. In 1930 L. F. Herreshoff was 40 years old.
