7x5 safety negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons in September of 1934 during the start of the New York Yacht Club Cruise. Image is a posed shot of Harold S. Vanderbilt in formal sailing dress on the deck of RAINBOW, a 126'7" ft. J Class sloop, designed by Burgess & Donaldson, Inc. and built by Herreshoff Manufacturing Co. in 1934. Stamped neg. sleeve info.: "69417F / [Box] 4108". Handwritten: "Vanderbilt at wheel / NYYC". Notation of possible orders by "Van" (Vanderbilt) and "Y" (YACHTING magazine).
