A display quality model of the America's Cup defender Puritan
Anonymous (American, 20th century)
This is a large scale model with a solid hull which has been painted with a dark green bottom and white topsides. The decks of the model are mahogany with the planking lines scored in. The deck is fitted with numerous details which include: anchors, anchor chain, anchor windlass, hatches, sky lights, centerboard winch, companionway, binnacle, ship's wheel, cleats, coils of line, and other deck fittings. The model is rigged as a cutter with a suit of linen sails which include a gaff rigged mainsail, jib, staysail and jib top. Other rigging details include standing and running rigging, including sheets, halyrads and stays, turning blocks, etc. the model is displayed on a pair of mahogany cradles on a mahogany stand.
