DESCRIPTION SITE :

The William Gardner-designed Vanitie was the most beautiful of the new boats, but (alas) Resolute beat it in defender's eliminations. This photograph, one of the Rosenfelds' most famous, is the epitome of the majestic style of yachting illustration. When the delicate shadings and artistic compositions of first-rate black-and-white photography are enhanced by subtle darkroom work, who needs color?
