Historical note: There is another Volante which was built at the Harvey yard in Ipswich in 1851. This yacht sailed against 'America' in the original Americas Cup challenge race. It is believed this larger, racing yacht was lost on Ryde Sands in the nineteenth century. (Picture supplied by Chris Goddard).
