REF : 0 EDITION : 1887 DATE : 18 Aug 1888 COURSE : 0 DESCRIPTION SITE : Described in W. H. Bunting's "Steamers, Schooners, Cutters, and Sloops" (1974): "Big sloops and schooners of the New York and Eastern Yacht Clubs in a discouraging race. The white sloop, left of center, with the prominent spinnaker, looks to be the Burgess Cup defender Puritan; the dark schooner at the right is unmistakably the old schooner Dauntless. The big sloop far in the lead appears to be the Volunteer, Burgess' last defender, which had caught a lucky slant soon after the start" NOTES AMERICA-SCOOP :LICENCE : Public domain |
