SuttonJV.jpgBorn in 1935, John Sutton is a marine and landscape painter.
John Sutton studied at the Norwich School of Art. He obtained a National Diploma in design and painting followed by Postgraduate study at the Brighton College of Art and Craft.

SuttonJ1.jpgFollowing a number of years teaching art, an exhibition of his work was held at the Spencer Gallery, London, which subsequently enabled him to concentrate on painting full time.

Subsequent exhibitions were successfully held in the USA, specifically Boston and South Carolina.

From 1980 to 2005, John Sutton’s work was held predominantly at the Eaton Gallery, London.

Today his paintings are held in private collections worldwide and his work is featured in authoritative reference books like Denys Brook-Hart’s “20th Century British Marine Painting.”

Living in East Anglia, where the wide skies and ever changing light create atmospheric effects on landscape, creek and seashore, John Sutton finds an infinite variety of subjects for many of his paintings.
