At a special meeting of the International Yacht Racing Union today the Royal Yacht Squadron issued at challenge on behalf of Thomas 0ctave Murdoch Sopwith, aircraft manufacturer and designer.

November 1, 1933.— Where three years ago four candidates, Enterprise, Weetamoe, Whirlwind and Yankee were built and raced in an elimination series for the honor of defending the America’s Cup, only two syndicates definitely are being formed thus far for the 1934 match.

Block Island Sound off NewportNegotiations with the Royal Yacht Squadron for holding the races for the America’s Cup having been completed, the conditions to govern the match were announced yesterday by the New York Yacht Club.

The contests again will be held in Block Island Sound off Newport, R. I., where the late Sir Thomas Lipton made his last try for the old trophy in 1930.
