Hope R. Angier is a Maine artist known for her hand-painted fireboards, theorem paintings, wall hangings, and stair-riser murals. Hope Angier was taught the art of theorem painting by her Mother-in-Law Elizabeth Angier. In the 1930s Mrs. Angier worked closely with Ester Stevens (Brazer) of Boston, who researched, preserved and recorded the Early American painting techniques.
Hope and Fred Angier have been offering their distinctive and customized interior decorative painting services to clients for more than 25 years. Their wall murals, stair-riser murals, trompe l’oeil, painted floors, canvas floor cloths, faux-grained woodwork, decorated bathroom and kitchen cabinets, glazed walls, color-washed woodwork, and painted furniture can be adapted to suit a variety of traditional or contemporary tastes.
From the Angier’s perspective, introducing appropriate decorative painting to interior walls, woodwork, floors or furniture offers unlimited options that serve to convey an understated sophistication to any decorating scheme. Their ultimate goal is to give each space its own distinctive personality while enabling the house, as a whole, to be cohesively connected.
Recent commissions have taken the Angiers into homes between Southwest Harbor and Kennebunkport, ME where their paints and creative imaginations have transformed ordinary living spaces into warm and inviting places.
